Basic Diagnostic Test

  1. Verify customer complaint. Perform a visual inspection of brake system, ensuring brake fluid level is normal, mechanical brake parts are in good condition, and electrical connections are secure. Go to next step.
  2. Using scan tool or ABS warning light, retrieve DTCs. If no DTCs are present, diagnose customer complaint by symptom. See TROUBLE SHOOTING. If DTC(s) are present, go to appropriate diagnostic test. Repair as necessary and clear DTCs. Test drive vehicle. If DTC(s) return, repeat step 1). If DTC(s) do not return, testing is complete.
