SLX & Trooper

  1. Ensure ground connection B-18 is secure. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . Repair if necessary. If ground connection is okay, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect driver's power window and lock switch. Use DVOM and check for continuity between ground and driver's power window and lock switch connector D-5 terminal No. 1 (Black wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If continuity is indicated, go to step 4). If continuity is not indicated, go to next step.
  3. Repair open in Black wire between driver's power window and lock switch and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . After repairs, recheck system operation.
  4. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Use DVOM and measure voltage between ground and driver's power window and lock switch connector D-5 terminal No. 7 (Blue/Black wire). If battery voltage is indicated, go to step 6). If battery voltage is not indicated, go to next step.
  5. Repair open in Blue/Black wire between power window relay and driver's power window and lock switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . After repairs, recheck system operation.
  6. Momentarily connect fused jumper between battery voltage and driver's power window and lock switch connector D-5 terminal No. 5 (Blue/White wire). Connect jumper wire between ground and driver's power window and lock switch connector D-5 terminal No. 6 (Blue wire). Reverse connections. If power window motor operates in both directions, replace driver's power window and lock switch. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If power window motor does not operate in both directions, go to next step.
  7. Disconnect driver's power window motor connector. Momentarily connect fused jumper between battery voltage and driver's power window motor Blue wire connector. Connect jumper wire between ground and driver's power window motor White wire connector. Reverse connections. If power window motor operates in both directions, go to next step. If power window motor does not operate in both directions, replace power window motor. See POWER WINDOW MOTOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  8. Repair open in Blue/White or Blue wires between driver's power window and lock switch and power window motor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . After repairs, recheck system operation.
