Removal & Installation

  1. Note distributor installed position and direction of rotor in relation to distributor housing. Use these as alignment aids (for installation) before removing distributor.
  2. Remove cylinder head cover. Rotate crankshaft pulley clockwise to TDC, with No. 4 cylinder on compression stroke. Disconnect distributor 4-way connector. Remove distributor.
  3. Ensure crankshaft is on TDC and No. 4 cylinder is on compression stroke. Apply engine oil to distributor shaft "O" ring. Install distributor, aligning reference marks. Distributor shaft is marked at a location 90 degrees from position of pinion gear roll pin. Shaft setting mark should align with raised shoulder on cylinder head.
  4. Install retainer washer, hold-down nut and distributor cap. Tighten nut to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . No timing adjustment is necessary.
