Removal & Installation

  1. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM  . Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove column shrouds and lower instrument panel trim. Disconnect ignition switch 8-wire harness connector and remove tie-straps retaining harness to column.
  2. Remove ignition switch retaining screw from ignition switch/column lock assembly. See Figure . To access switch retaining screw, it may be necessary to remove upper column bracket bolts from instrument panel in order to lower steering column. Remove ignition switch from rear of ignition switch/column lock assembly. See Figure . To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten fasteners to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  table.
