Section 29 (Engine Controls - Sensor Operating Range Charts - 2.6L 4-CYL): Introduction

Sensor operating range information can help determine if a sensor is out of calibration. An out-of-calibration sensor may not set a trouble code, but it may cause driveability problems.

NOTE: See TESTS W/CODES - 2.6L 4-CYL or SYSTEM/COMPONENT TESTS - 2.6L 4-CYL article for additional sensor testing procedures.
NOTE: Unless stated otherwise in test procedure, perform all voltage tests using a Digital Volt-Ohmmeter (DVOM) with a minimum 10-megohm input impedance.
CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR (CKP) VOLTAGE

Application (1) Volts
2.6L 2.5
(1) Measure voltage between signal circuit and ground while cranking engine.
ECT & IAT SENSOR RESISTANCE

(1) Measure resistance across disconnected sensor terminals.
OXYGEN SENSOR VOLTAGE (1)

Lean 0.1
Rich 1.0
(1) Test at normal operating temperature.
OXYGEN SENSOR HEATING ELEMENT RESISTANCE (1)

Application (2) Ohms
2.6L 3-6
(1) Resistance will vary with temperature change.
(2) See WIRING DIAGRAMS  for heater circuit identification.
THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR VOLTAGE (1)

Position (2) Volts
Closed Throttle 0.22
Open Throttle 4.88
(1) For terminal locations, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
(2) Voltage should increase smoothly from closed to wide open throttle.
VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR VOLTAGE (1)

Application (2) Volts
2.6L Toggles between 0.6 & 10
(1) Measure voltage at back of speedometer. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
(2) With ignition on, turn speedometer cable to cycle reed switch on and off.
