Removal & Installation
- Remove negative battery cable. Use a hand operated pump device in order to remove fuel through filler neck (if pump is equipped, make sure to hook up static ground wire to a metal part of gas tank before beginning).
- Raise and support vehicle. Loosen filler neck hose clamp at fuel tank and disconnect fuel tank filler neck from fuel tank. Support fuel tank and remove fuel tank shield.NOTE: Before lowering fuel tank more than 2 In. (51 mm), ensure that connections to both roll over valves are disconnected. Roll over valves are located at both front and rear of fuel tank.
- Remove tank straps and lower fuel tank. Disconnect fuel and vapor hoses and electrical connection at sender. Remove fuel sender and seal ring by turning cam lock counterclockwise. Discard old seal ring.
- Remove fuel pump from sending unit by pulling fuel pump up into attaching hose while pulling outward from bottom support (do not damage rubber insulator or strainer). Inspect fuel pump attaching hose and strainer for sings of deterioration. Also inspect rubber at bottom of pump for sound insulation.NOTE: When installing sending unit, do not fold or twist strainer (so as not to restrict fuel flow).
- To install, reverse removal procedures. Install NEW "O" ring. Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
