Section 20 (Engine Controls - System/Component Tests - 3.2L): Introduction
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1995 Isuzu Rodeo. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
Assembly Line Data Link (ALDL) connector may also be referred to as Data Link Connector (DLC). The term CHECK ENGINE light is now referred to as Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL). The MIL is displayed in instrument cluster as CHECK ENGINE. Electronic Control Module (ECM) may also be referred to as Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
NOTE:
Testing individual components does not isolate shorts or opens. Perform all voltage tests using a Digital Volt-Ohmmeter (DVOM) with a minimum 10-megohm input impedance, unless stated otherwise in test procedure. Use ohmmeter to isolate wiring harness shorts or opens.
Before testing separate components or systems, perform procedures in BASIC TESTING - 3.2L article. Since many computer controlled and monitored components set a trouble code if they malfunction, also see the TESTS W/CODES - 3.2L article.
