Disabling & Activating Air Bag System
WARNING:
The Diagnostic Energy Reserve Module (DERM) maintains sufficient voltage to cause an air bag deployment for up to 2 minutes. The Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) maintains sufficient voltage to cause an air bag deployment for up to 15 seconds.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position and remove key. Wait at least 5 minutes. Remove SRS fuses SRS-1 and SRS-2 (10-amp) from interior fuse block.
- Disconnect Yellow 3-way connector located at base of steering column. Remove glove box assembly. Disconnect Yellow 2-way connector located behind glove box opening.
- To activate air bag system, reconnect Yellow 2-way and 3-way connectors. Reinstall SRS fuses. Turn ignition on. Ensure AIR BAG warning light flashes 7 times, then turns off.
