Power Steering Pump: Inspection

Check pressure plate and thrust plate sliding surfaces for ridges. Check valve sliding face for burrs or damage. Parts with minor scores may be reused after polishing with emery cloth (No. 800 or finer).

Check side plate, end plate and cam sliding surfaces for ridges. Check rotor and vanes for excessive wear. Replace entire pump cartridge if any one component is worn. Check valve sliding face for burrs or damage. If valve has only minor scores, it may be reused after polishing with emery cloth (No. 800 or finer).
