Temperature Gauge Sending Unit

  1. Remove sending unit. Sending unit is located on front of engine, below distributor assembly. Measure sending unit resistance in heated water.
  2. Connect one ohmmeter lead to sending unit terminal and other lead to sending unit body (ground). Resistance should decrease as water temperature increases. See COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENDING UNIT RESISTANCE  . If resistance does not vary as specified, replace sending unit.
