Fuel-Cut (Slow-Cut) System

  1. Warm engine to operating temperature and connect tachometer. Connect voltmeter to Red and Black wires of fuel-cut solenoid harness. Increase engine speed to greater than 3000 RPM and release accelerator.
  2. Voltmeter should read battery voltage at less than 2000 RPM and zero volts at greater than 2000 RPM. If readings are not within specification, check ECM relay and related wiring. See Fig 1 . See ECM & EFE RELAYS under MODULES, RELAYS & SOLENOIDS procedure.
  3. If readings are within specification, check fuel-cut (slow-cut) solenoid. See FUEL-CUT (SLOW-CUT) SOLENOID.
