Checking Fluid Level After Repair
CAUTION:
DO NOT
hold steering wheel at full lock position for more than 5 seconds. Pump damage will result.
- Raise and support front of vehicle. Fill reservoir. Wait 2 or 3 minutes and refill reservoir. With engine off, turn steering wheel lock-to-lock several times. Check fluid level. Refill as necessary.
- With engine at idle, turn steering wheel lock-to-lock several times. Turn off engine. Recheck fluid level. Add fluid (if necessary). Lower vehicle. Turn steering wheel lock-to-lock with engine at idle.
- With wheels in straight-ahead position and engine off, look for fluid rising in reservoir. If fluid rises, air is trapped in system. Repeat previous step. If fluid is needed, fill through gauge tube and recheck. DO NOT overfill.
