Ignition Coil

  1. Ensure ignition switch is off. Disconnect ignition coil wiring.
  2. Measure primary resistance between terminals "C" and "E". See Fig 1 . Measure secondary resistance between terminals "C" and "D". Measure insulation resistance between terminals "C" and body ground.
  3. On all models, resistance should be within specification. See IGNITION COIL RESISTANCE (NON-HEI SYSTEMS)  table. Replace coil if resistance is not within specification.

Amigo, Pickup & Rodeo 2.6L .81-.99 7500-11,300
(1) On all models, insulation resistance should not be more than 10m (million) ohms.
