Fuel Pump Relay (2.6L Trooper)

  1. Relay is powered by ignition switch starter circuit. When engine starts, charging circuit powers engine relay, which sends power through fuse No. 12 and to fuel pump relay diodes to energize fuel pump relay. Fuel pump relay then passes power from fuse No. 24 to fuel pump.
  2. To test relay, remove front Black relay (relay nearest headlight) from fuse/relay box on left fender. Using jumper wires, ground terminal No. 5 and apply battery voltage to terminal No. 4. Using ohmmeter, check for continuity between terminals No. 1 and 3 with relay energized. If continuity is not present, replace relay. See Figure .
