Except Trooper II 2.8L

  1. Check ignition timing with engine at normal operating temperature. Connect tachometer. Connect timing light to either No. 1 or No. 4 cylinder. Turn A/C off (if equipped). Start engine.
  2. Check ignition timing. See IGNITION TIMING  specifications table. If timing is out of adjustment, loosen distributor hold-down bolt and turn distributor in either direction until timing is within specification. After adjustment, retighten distributor hold-down bolt.
