Engine Compression

Check compression with engine at normal operating temperature. On Trooper II 2.6 L, disconnect fuel hose between fuel pressure regulator and fuel distributor pipe to reduce fuel pressure. Also, disconnect main relay connector. Main relay is located on the right fender panel, behind metal bracket. On all models, remove all spark plugs; hold throttle valve wide open; and operate engine at cranking speed (300 RPM). Crank engine a minimum of 4 compression strokes.
