Code 23 - Mat Sensor (Low Temperature Indicated): Notes

NOTE: Test numbers refer to test numbers on diagnostic chart.
  1. This step checks to see if Code 23 is the result of a hard failure or an intermittent condition. A Code 23 will set if signal voltage indicates a MAT temperature less than -30°C and engine is running for longer than 3 minutes.
  2. This test simulates conditions for a Code 23. If "Scan" tester displays a high temperature, ECM and wiring are okay.
  3. This step checks continuity of circuits No. 472 and 452. If circuit No. 452 is open, a Code 21 may also exist. When checking for an open circuit, ensure to check terminals at Black engine harness connector.
