CODE 13 (Open O2 Sensor Circuit)

  1. If code 13 and 23 are displayed, go to CODE 23 first. Connect dwell meter (4-cyl. scale) and warm engine until upper radiator hose is warm.
  2. With engine idling, disconnect O2 sensor and ground harness terminal. If dwell is greater than 10 degrees after 30 seconds, go to step 3). If dwell is less than 10 degrees after 30 seconds, O2 sensor or connection is faulty.
  3. Connect jumper between ECM connector terminals C45-8 to C45-16 and note dwell. If dwell is greater than 10 degrees after 30 seconds, go to step 4). If dwell is less than 10 degrees after 30 seconds, repair open in O2 sensor harness to ECM.
  4. Ensure ECM connector terminal C45-16 is grounded with ignition off. If okay, ECM or connector is faulty.
