Sensor Testing
NOTE:
A voltmeter with an internal resistance of at least 20,000 ohms must be used to check the oxygen sensor.
- Disconnect oxygen sensor lead at connector. Insert a jumper wire into connector so that wire is exposed. Reconnect oxygen sensor lead. Set tester on 2-volt scale.
- Connect positive lead of tester to test wire and negative lead to ground. Start engine, and check for voltage variations between 0 and 0.8 volts when engine speed is momentarily increased. Replace oxygen sensor if no voltage variation is noted.
