DTC Diagnosis Procedure
- VVEL ACTUATOR MOTOR OUTPUT SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR OPEN AND SHORT
- Disconnect VVEL control module harness connector.
- Disconnect VVEL actuator motor harness connector.
- Check the continuity between VVEL control module harness connector and VVEL actuator motor harness connector.

- Also check harness for short to ground and power.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO 3.
NO
GO TO 2.
- DETECT MALFUNCTIONING PART
Check the following.
- Harness for open or short between VVEL actuator motor and VVEL control module
- Loose or poor connection for each connector and harness
Repair open circuit, short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
- CHECK VVEL ACTUATOR MOTOR
Refer to Component Inspection .
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO 5.
NO
GO TO 4.
- REPLACE VVEL ACTUATOR MOTOR ASSEMBLY
Replace VVEL actuator motor assembly. Refer to VVEL ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY : Removal & Installation .
INSPECTION END
- CHECK INTERMITTENT INCIDENT
Refer to Inspection .
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO 6.
NO
Repair or replace.
- REPLACE VVEL CONTROL MODULE
Replace VVEL control module. Refer to VVEL CONTROL MODULE : Removal & Installation .
GO TO 7.
- PERFORM DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE
- Turn ignition switch ON.
- Erase 1st trip DTC.
- Perform DTC Confirmation Procedure.
Refer to DTC Diagnosis Procedure .
Is the DTC P100A or P100B displayed again?
YES
GO TO 8.
NO
INSPECTION END
- CHECK VVEL ACTUATOR HOUSING ASSEMBLY
Refer to Component Inspection .
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO 10.
NO
GO TO 9.
- REPLACE VVEL ACTUATOR HOUSING ASSEMBLY
Replace VVEL actuator housing assembly. Refer to CAMSHAFT : Removal & Installation .
INSPECTION END
- CHECK VVEL LADDER ASSEMBLY
Refer to CAMSHAFT : Inspection .
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO 12.
NO
GO TO 11.
- REPLACE CYLINDER HEAD AND VVEL LADDER ASSEMBLY
Replace cylinder head and VVEL ladder assembly.
Refer to CYLINDER HEAD : Removal & Installation . (Cylinder head).
Refer to CAMSHAFT : Removal & Installation . (VVEL ladder assembly)

- CHECK INTERMITTENT INCIDENT
Refer to Inspection .
