How To Erase Permanent DTC

NOTE: For permanent DTC group, refer to DTC Index .
  1. CHECK DTC 

    Check DTC.

    Is any DTC detected?

    YES

    Repair malfunction(s) and erase DTC.

    NO

    GO TO 2.

  2. CHECK PERMANENT DTC 

    SYMBOL With CONSULT

    1. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
    2. Turn ignition switch ON.
    3. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
    4. Turn ignition switch ON.
    5. Select "PERMANENT DTC STATUS" mode with CONSULT.

    SYMBOL With GST

    1. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
    2. Turn ignition switch ON.
    3. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
    4. Turn ignition switch ON.
    5. Select Service $0A with GST.

    Which permanent DTC is detected?

    Group A

    GO TO 3.

    Group B

    GO TO 4.

    Group C

    GO TO 5.

    Group D

    GO TO 6.

    Group E

    GO TO 7.

    Group F

    GO TO 8.

    Group G

    GO TO 9.

    Group H

    GO TO 10.

    Group I

    GO TO 11.

    NO

    END

  3. HOW TO ERASE PERMANENT DTC (GROUP A) 
    CAUTION: Always drive at a safe speed.

    Drive the vehicle according to the following;

    • The state of driving at 40 km/h (25 MPH) reaches 30 seconds or more in total.
    • Idle speed lasts 30 seconds or more.
    • A lapse of 600 seconds or more after engine start.

    GO TO 12.

  4. HOW TO ERASE PERMANENT DTC (GROUP B) 
    CAUTION: Always drive at a safe speed.
    1. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
    2. Start the engine.
    3. Stay P position over 10 seconds.
    4. Shift the selector lever to R position with brake pedal depressed and stay R position over 10 seconds.
    5. Shift the selector lever to Nd position with brake pedal depressed and stay Nd position over 10 seconds.
    6. Shift the selector lever to D/M position with brake pedal depressed and stay D position over 10 seconds.
    7. Drive the vehicle according to the following;
      • The state of driving at 40 km/h (25 MPH) reaches 30 seconds or more in total.
      • Idle speed lasts 30 seconds or more.
      • A lapse of 600 seconds or more after engine start.

    GO TO 12.

  5. HOW TO ERASE PERMANENT DTC (GROUP C) 
    CAUTION: Always drive at a safe speed.
    1. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
    2. Start the engine.
    3. Maintain the following conditions for 30 seconds or more.

      Accelerator pedal position

      : 1.2/8

      Vehicle speed

      : 60 km/h (38 MPH) or more
    4. Drive the vehicle according to the following;
      • The state of driving at 40 km/h (25 MPH) reaches 30 seconds or more in total.
      • Idle speed lasts 30 seconds or more.
      • A lapse of 600 seconds or more after engine start.

    GO TO 12.

  6. HOW TO ERASE PERMANENT DTC (GROUP D) 
    CAUTION: Always drive at a safe speed.
    1. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
    2. Start the engine.
    3. Maintain the following conditions for 30 seconds or more.

      Accelerator pedal position

      : 2.4/8

      Vehicle speed

      : 80 km/h (50 MPH) or more
    4. Drive the vehicle according to the following;
      • The state of driving at 40 km/h (25 MPH) reaches 30 seconds or more in total.
      • Idle speed lasts 30 seconds or more.
      • A lapse of 600 seconds or more after engine start.

    GO TO 12.

  7. HOW TO ERASE PERMANENT DTC (GROUP E) 
    CAUTION: Always drive at a safe speed.
    1. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
    2. Start the engine.
    3. Maintain the following conditions for 30 seconds or more.

      Accelerator pedal position

      : 2.4/8

      Vehicle speed

      : 80 km/h (50 MPH) or more
    4. Stop the vehicle.
    5. Fully depress accelerator pedal and accelerate by reaching 80 km/h (50 MPH) or more.
    6. Drive the vehicle according to the following;
      • The state of driving at 40 km/h (25 MPH) reaches 30 seconds or more in total.
      • Idle speed lasts 30 seconds or more.
      • A lapse of 600 seconds or more after engine start.

    GO TO 12.

  8. HOW TO ERASE PERMANENT DTC (GROUP F) 
    CAUTION: Always drive at a safe speed.
    1. Adjust that fuel level is between 1/4 and 4/4.
    2. Move the vehicle to a cool place.
      NOTE: Cool the vehicle in an environment of ambient air temperature less than 20 deg. C (68 deg. F).
    3. Turn ignition switch OFF and leave the vehicle for 12 hours.
      CAUTION: Never turn ignition switch ON during this procedure.
      NOTE: The vehicle must be cooled with the hood open.
    4. Start the engine.
    5. Shift the selector lever to Nd position and let engine idle for 5 minutes or more.
    6. Drive the vehicle according to the following;
      • The state of driving at 40 km/h (25 MPH) reaches 30 seconds or more in total.
      • Idle speed lasts 30 seconds or more.
      • A lapse of 600 seconds or more after engine start.

    GO TO 12.

  9. HOW TO ERASE PERMANENT DTC (GROUP G) 
    CAUTION: Always drive at a safe speed.
    1. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
    2. Start the engine.
    3. Drive the vehicle according to the following;
      • The state of driving at 40 km/h (25 MPH) reaches 30 seconds or more in total.
      • Idle speed lasts 30 seconds or more.
      • A lapse of 600 seconds or more after engine start.

    GO TO 12.

  10. HOW TO ERASE PERMANENT DTC (GROUP H) 
    CAUTION: Always drive at a safe speed.
    1. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
    2. Start the engine.
    3. Maintain the following conditions for 5 seconds or more.

      Shift position

      : "D" position

      Accelerator pedal position

      : 1.0/8 or more

      Vehicle speed

      : 1 - 15 km/h (0.6 - 9 MPH)

      Brake pedal

      : Depress*

      *: Keep depressing the brake pedal moderately not to accelerate the vehicle.

    4. Drive the vehicle according to the following;
      • The state of driving at 40 km/h (25 MPH) reaches 30 seconds or more in total.
      • Idle speed lasts 30 seconds or more.
      • A lapse of 600 seconds or more after engine start.

    GO TO 12.

  11. HOW TO ERASE PERMANENT DTC (GROUP I) 
    CAUTION: Always drive at a safe speed.
    1. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
    2. Start the engine.
    3. Shift the selector lever to D/M position.
    4. Fully depress the accelerator pedal and accelerate by reaching 100 km/h (62 MPH).

      And then release the accelerator pedal.

    5. Depress the accelerator pedal half way for 10 seconds.
    6. Drive the vehicle according to the following;
      • The state of driving at 40 km/h (25 MPH) reaches 30 seconds or more in total.
      • Idle speed lasts 30 seconds or more.
      • A lapse of 600 seconds or more after engine start.

    GO TO 12.

  12. CHECK PERMANENT DTC 

    SYMBOL With CONSULT

    1. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
    2. Turn ignition switch ON.
    3. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
    4. Turn ignition switch ON.
    5. Select "PERMANENT DTC STATUS" mode with CONSULT.

    SYMBOL With GST

    1. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
    2. Turn ignition switch ON.
    3. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
    4. Turn ignition switch ON.
    5. Select Service $0A with GST.

    Is any permanent DTC detected?

    YES

    GO TO 1.

    NO

    END
