Transaxle Fluid: Changing

Recommended fluid and fluid capacity |

- Apply the parking brake and start the engine.
- Warm up the engine.
- Shift through P-R-N-D several times with the vehicle stationary and the engine idling.
- Select the N position.
- Stop the engine.
- Lift up the vehicle.
- Remove engine under cover. Refer to Removal and Installation .
- Remove the drain plug from the transaxle case, and then drain the transaxle fluid.CAUTION: Never get burn yourself, as transaxle fluid may be hot.
- Remove the oil pan. Refer to Removal and Installation .
- Remove the transaxle fluid filter. Refer to Removal and Installation .
- Lift down the vehicle.
- Remove the transaxle cooling module cap. Refer to Removal and Installation .
- Remove the transaxle cooling module element. Refer to Removal and Installation .
- Clean the oil pan.
- Clean the drain plug.
- Lift up the vehicle.
- Install the new transaxle fluid filter with new O-ring. Refer to Removal and Installation .
- Install the oil pan. Refer to Removal and Installation .
- Install the drain plug with new oil seal. Refer to Removal and Installation .
- Install the engine under cover.
- Lift down the vehicle.
- Install the new transaxle cooling module element. Refer to Removal and Installation .
- Install the transaxle cooling module cap with new O-ring. Refer to Removal and Installation .
- Remove locking pin
and remove cap
from transaxle fluid charging pipe.
NOTE: Locking pin can be removable by pressing lock plateof cap in the direction shown by arrow.
- Fill the new transaxle fluid.CAUTION: Never start the engine while filling the transaxle fluid.
Transaxle fluid
: 4 liters
- Adjust transaxle fluid level, if necessary. Refer to Adjustment .
