System Description: Description

The task of the transaxle cooling system is to maintain the transaxle fluid temperature at an optimal level and protect both the mechanical and electrical components of the dual clutch transaxle from damage due to overheating. A major component of the transaxle cooling system is the transaxle fluid heat exchanger. This makes up the cooling module together with the pressure fluid filter. The transaxle fluid heat exchanger is designed as a stacked plate cooler and is located on the top of the transaxle housing. It acts as an inter-face between the coolant and transaxle fluid circuit. A regulated flow of coolant is pumped from the cooler through the transaxle fluid heat exchanger by the water pump depending on the transaxle fluid temperature. This coolant flow absorbs the waste heat of the heated transaxle fluid and passes it on to the coolant circuit.
