Automatic Transmission (Introduction And Basic Inspection)
On the dual clutch transaxle, the park pawl is no longer engaged by the driver via a mechanical cable connection/linkage but is instead actuated electrohydraulically by the TCM.
The park pawl system (park-by-wire) consists of the following components:
- The electric shift selector
- The TCM and electrohydraulic park pawl switchover valve
- The park pawl lift solenoid
- The park pawl position sensor
- The parking lock mechanism
The park pawl is engaged or released either through actuation of the P position switch on the electric shift selector or depending on various factors such as opening of the driver door with the engine running. All components of the park pawl system, except the electric shift selector, are integrated in the dual clutch transaxle.
In general, a distinction is made between the operating conditions:
- Park pawl position "P"
- Park pawl position "Not P"
