Inspection Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST BY TECHSTREAM (TAILLIGHT) 
    1. Operate the Techstream according to the steps on the display and select "Active Test".
      1. Techstream

        Main Body 

        MAIN BODY - TECHSTREAM ACTIVE TEST CHART

        Tester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note
        Tail light Taillight ON or OFF -

        OK: Taillight turns on / turns off. 

    NG: Go to step 2 

    OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  

  2. INSPECT FUSE (TAIL) 
    1. Remove the TAIL fuse from the main body ECU.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      FUSE (TAIL)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      TAIL fuse Always Below 1 Ω

    NG: REPLACE FUSE 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TAILLIGHT BULB - BATTERY) 
    1. for LH:
      1. Disconnect the R5 taillight connector.

      2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard voltage 

        TAILLIGHT BULB - BATTERY LH

        Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
        R5-4 (TL) - Body ground Light control switch TAIL 11 to 14 V
        Light control switch expect TAIL Below 1V
    2. for RH:
      1. Disconnect the R4 taillight connector.

      2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard voltage 

        TAILLIGHT BULB - BATTERY RH

        Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
        R4-4 (TL) - Body ground Light control switch TAIL 11 to 14 V
        Light control switch expect TAIL Below 1 V

    NG: Go to step 4 

    OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (TAILLIGHT - BODY GROUND) 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MAIN BODY ECU - BATTERY) 
    1. Disconnect the DA ECU connector.

    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage 

      MAIN BODY ECU - BATTERY

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      DA-1 - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TAILLIGHT - MAIN BODY ECU)

    1. Disconnect the DB ECU connector.
    2. for LH:
      1. Disconnect the R5 taillight connector.
      2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard resistance 

        TAILLIGHT - MAIN BODY ECU LH

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        R5-4 (TL) - DB-8 Always Below 1 Ω
        R5-4 (TL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    3. for RH:
      1. Disconnect the R4 taillight connector.
      2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard resistance 

        TAILLIGHT - MAIN BODY ECU RH

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        R4-4 (TL) - DB-8 Always Below 1 Ω
        R4-4 (TL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU
