Inspection Procedure

NOTE: When replacing the VSC actuator assembly, perform zero point calibration (See CALIBRATION  ).
  1. INSPECT CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 
    1. Check if a CAN communication system DTC is output (See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE TABLE ).

      Result 

      RESULT TABLE

      Result Proceed to
      DTC is not output A
      DTC is output B

    B: GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM  (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING )

    A: Go To Next Step 

  2. INSPECT CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION 
    1. Check the skid control ECU connector connection condition.

      OK: The connector is securely connected. 

    NG: CONNECT CONNECTOR CORRECTLY 

    OK: Go To Next Step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the A17 ECU connector.
    2. Measure the voltage and resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION TABLE

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A17-9 (IG1) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V

      Standard Resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION TABLE

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A17-1 (GND1) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go To Next Step 

  4. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (SLIP INDICATOR LIGHT) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Select the Active Test mode and operate the SLIP indicator light using the Techstream.

      ABS/VSC/TRAC 

      DIAGNOSTIC NOTE TABLE

      Slip Indicator Light SLIP indicator light ON/OFF Observe combination meter
    5. Check that the SLIP indicator light turns on and off in the combination meter when using the Techstream.

      OK: The SLIP indicator light turns on and off in accordance with the Techstream operation. 

    NG: GO TO METER/GAUGE SYSTEM  (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING )

    OK: Go To Next Step 

  5. INSPECT VSC OFF SWITCH 
    1. Remove the VSC OFF switch (See REMOVAL  ).
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION TABLE

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      6-9 Switch is pressed Below 1 Ω
      Switch is not pressed 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPLACE VSC OFF SWITCH 

    OK: Go To Next Step 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - VSC OFF SWITCH AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the A17 ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the J22 switch connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION TABLE

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A17-13 (CSW) - J22-9 Always Below 1 Ω
      A17-13 (CSW) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      J22-6 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: REPLACE VSC ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL  )
