Intake Manifold: Removal

  1. DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE  (See REMOVAL )
  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE: Some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (see INITIALIZATION ).
  3. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER  (See REMOVAL )
  4. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT  (See REPLACEMENT )
  5. REMOVE FRONT WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the front wiper motor and link (see REMOVAL ).
  6. REMOVE FRONT COWL TOP OUTER PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the 2 washer hoses.
    2. Remove the 7 bolts and front cowl top outer panel.

  7. REMOVE V-BANK COVER 
    1. Remove the 2 nuts and V-bank cover.

  8. REMOVE NO. 2 AIR CLEANER HOSE  (see REMOVAL  )
  9. REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY WITH ELEMENT 
    1. Disconnect the No. 2 ventilation hose.

    2. Detach the hose clamp.
    3. Disconnect the vacuum hose.
    4. Disconnect the MAF meter connector.

    5. Using a clip remover, detach the 2 wire harness clamps.
    6. Loosen the hose clamp.
    7. Remove the 2 bolts and air cleaner with element.

  10. REMOVE INTAKE AIR SURGE TANK 
    1. Disconnect the throttle position sensor and throttle control motor connector.

    2. Disconnect the No. 4 water by-pass hose.
    3. Disconnect the No. 5 water by-pass hose.
    4. Disconnect the purge line hose.

    5. Disconnect the purge VSV connector.
    6. Disconnect the union to check valve hose.
    7. Disconnect the No. 1 ventilation hose.

    8. Disconnect the vacuum switching valve (for ACIS) connector.

    9. Using a clip remover, detach the 2 wire harness clamps.
    10. Remove the 2 bolts and throttle body bracket.

    11. Using a clip remover, detach the wire harness clamp.
    12. Remove the bolt and oil baffle plate.

    13. Remove the 2 bolts and No. 1 surge tank stay.
    14. Remove the 2 bolts and No. 2 surge tank stay.

    15. Remove the 2 nuts.
    16. Using an 8 mm hexagon wrench, remove the 4 bolts. Then remove the intake air surge tank and gasket.

  11. REMOVE FUEL DELIVERY PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  12. REMOVE INTAKE MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 10 bolts, intake manifold and 2 gaskets.
