FAIL-SAFE CHART

4WD control ECU malfunction
  • 2WD to 4WD HIGH switching is not possible
  • 4WD HIGH to 4WD LOW switching is not possible
4HI indicator light and/or 4LO indicator light blink at 0.2 seconds intervals Ignition switch OFF
Wheel speed signal malfunction*1, *2
  • 2WD to 4WD HIGH switching is not possible
  • 4WD HIGH to 4WD LOW switching is not possible
4HI indicator light and/or 4LO indicator light blink at 0.2 seconds intervals
  • When signal returns to normal
  • During 2WD switching operation
  • Ignition switch OFF
A/T shift position signal malfunction 4WD HIGH to 4WD LOW switching is not possible 4LO indicator light blinks at 0.2 seconds intervals
  • When signal returns to normal
  • During 2WD or 4WD HIGH switching operation
  • Ignition switch OFF
Engine speed signal malfunction 4WD HIGH to 4WD LOW switching is not possible
A.D.D. actuator limit switch malfunction
  • 2WD to 4WD HIGH switching is not possible

  • During cruise control AUTO driving, cruise control system is turned OFF
4HI indicator light blinks at 0.2 seconds intervals Ignition switch OFF
2WD-4WD transfer shift actuator limit switch malfunction
  • 2WD to 4WD HIGH switching is not possible
  • 4WD HIGH to 4WD LOW switching is not possible
  • During cruise control AUTO driving, cruise control system is turned OFF
High-low transfer shift actuator limit switch malfunction
  • 2WD to 4WD HIGH switching is not possible
  • 4WD HIGH to 4WD LOW switching is not possible
4LO indicator light blinks at 0.2 seconds intervals
HINT:
  • *1: When only 1 wheel's speed sensor is malfunctioning, the switching operation is performed based on the other 3 wheels. If the switch position and actuator match, fail-safe is deactivated.
  • *2: When 2 wheels or more are malfunctioning, switching is not possible. If the speed sensor returns to normal, the fail-safe is deactivated.
  • When the switching operation is performed during cruise control AUTO driving, if the switch completion does not occur 5 seconds after the switching operation, the cruise control system is turned off.
