Diagnostic Procedure

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect ECM harness connector. See Figure . Check continuity between body ground and ECM harness connector terminal No. 78 (Black wire). See Figure . Continuity should exist. Also, check circuit for short to voltage. If problem is found, go to next step. If problem is not found, go to step  3 .
  2. Check the following:
    • Check for poor connection at White, 18-pin harness connector F66 terminal No. 7 (Black wire). See Figure . Connector is located under instrument panel. See Figure .
    • Check for open or short between ECM and body ground.
    • Check for poor connection at White, 16-pin connector M110 terminal No. 10 (Black wire). See Figure . Connector M110 is located under center console. See Figure .
    • Check for poor connection at White, 18-pin connector M6 terminal No. 6 (Green wire). See Figure . Connector M6 is located under left side of instrument panel. See Figure .
    • Check for open between body ground and ECM.
    Repair as necessary.
  3. Disconnect fuel pump assembly harness connector located behind access cover, under rear seat. Measure resistance between fuel pump assembly terminals No. 2 and 5 as shown in illustration. See Figure . If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace fuel level sensor.
  4. No problem is indicated at this time. Problem may be intermittent. See INTERMITTENTS in TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article.
