IF YOU CONFIRM
The Intelligent Key will start the vehicle's engine, but the following are inoperative:
- The Intelligent Key lock/unlock buttons
- Door handle lock/unlock buttons ("request" switches)
Or
The Intelligent Key system has a "poor" range of operation, such as the following:
- Intelligent Key door handle "request" switch does not work unless they move very close to the vehicle.
- Intelligent Key does not work when pressing the driver's door "request" switch (lock/unlock) with the left hand when the Intelligent Key fob is in his/her right pocket.
- Intelligent Key door handle "request" switch operates intermittently
ACTIONS
Replace the Intelligent Key (Smart Keyless) Control Unit with the new Intelligent Key Control Unit listed in the Parts Information section of this bulletin.
NOTE:
- If vehicle's engine does not start by using Intelligent Key, refer to ITB03-010 for Intelligent Key Troubleshooting Chart.

NOTE:
- The Intelligent Key range on vehicles built before March 14, 2003 is around 39 inches (1 meter) from the outside door mirror, where the system's antenna units are located.
- The range has been increased to 47 inches (1.2 meters) with the new Intelligent Key listed in the Parts Information section.
- When you replace the Control Unit, you must register all existing Intelligent Keys. Be sure to collect all "old" Intelligent Key(s) when replacing the Control Unit.
- Refer to ITB03-010 for detailed instructions on how to register new Intelligent Key Control Units.
