DTC Confirmation Test (With CONSULT-II)

NOTE: If an incorrect fuel filler cap is used or fuel filler cap is not tightened properly, MIL may illuminate. Use only a genuine NISSAN rubber hose as replacement. Never remove fuel filler cap during DTC confirmation test procedure.
  1. Ensure EVAP hoses are properly connected to EVAP canister purge volume control solenoid valve.
  2. Ensure fuel level is between 1/4 and 3/4 full and vehicle is parked on a flat, level surface.
  3. Open engine hood.
  4. Tighten fuel filler cap securely until ratcheting sound is heard.
  5. Turn ignition switch on. Turn ignition switch off and wait at least 10 seconds.
  6. Turn ignition switch on. Select DATA MONITOR mode.
  7. Ensure COOLAN TEMP/S is 32-158°F (0-70°C) and INT/A TEMP SE is 32-140°F (0-60°C).
  8. Select EVAP SML LEAK P0442/P1442 of EVAPORATIVE SYSTEM in DTC WORK SUPPORT mode. Follow instructions displayed. If engine speed cannot be maintained within range displayed, go to TROUBLESHOOTING - NO CODES article.
  9. Ensure that OK is displayed. If NG is displayed, select SELF-DIAG RESULTS and ensure that EVAP GROSS LEAK (P0455) is displayed. If correct item is displayed, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  . If P0442 is displayed, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  under DTC P0442.
