Fuel Injector Circuits (G20)

  1. If using CONSULT-II, go to next step. If not using CONSULT-II, go to step  3.
  2. Start engine. Perform POWER BALANCE in ACTIVE TEST mode with CONSULT-II. If each circuit produces a momentary engine speed drop, system is okay. If any circuit does not produce a momentary engine speed drop, go to step  4.
  3. Start engine and let it idle. Listen to each injector for operating sound. Each injector should click. If every injector clicks, system is okay. If any injector does not click, go to next step.
  4. Turn ignition off. Disconnect inoperative injector harness connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and injector harness connector terminal No. 1 (Black/Red wire). If battery voltage exists, go to step  6. If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step.
  5. Check the following:
    • Check fuse No. 25 (10-amp) located in fuse block under left side of instrument panel.
    • Check for poor connection at White, 24-pin connector F24 terminal No. 6 (Black/Red wire). See Figure and Figure .
    • Check for poor connection at Gray, 10-pin in-line harness connector F13 terminals No. 1 and 2 (both Black/Red wires). See Figure and Fig 1 .
    • Check for open or short between injector and fuse.

    Repair as necessary.

  6. Turn ignition off. Disconnect ECM harness connector. See Figure. Check continuity of the following:
    • Red/Black wire between injector No. 1 harness connector terminal No. 2 and ECM harness connector terminal No. 101.
    • Yellow/Black wire between injector No. 2 harness connector terminal No. 2 and ECM harness connector terminal No. 103.
    • Green/Black wire between injector No. 3 harness connector terminal No. 2 and ECM harness connector terminal No. 105.
    • Blue/Black wire between injector No. 4 harness connector terminal No. 2 and ECM harness connector terminal No. 107.

See Figure. Also, check circuit for short to ground and short to voltage. If problem is found, go to next step. If circuits are okay, go to step  8.

  7. Check the following:
    • Check for poor connections at Gray, 10-pin in-line harness connector F13.
    • Check for open or short between injector and ECM.

    Repair as necessary.

  8. Check fuel injector. See FUEL INJECTOR . If injector is okay, go to next step. If injector is not okay, replace fuel injector.
  9. No problem is indicated at this time. Problem may be intermittent. See INTERMITTENTS in TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article.
