Knock Sensor (KS)

Basic ignition timing is programmed into ECM. Knock sensor detects engine detonation (knocking), converts knocking vibration into a voltage signal to the ECM. This information is used by ECM to adjust ignition timing accordingly to eliminate detonation. This knock sensor retard system does not operate under normal driving conditions.
