Horn Reminder Check
- Inspect horn system. Press horn button. If horn sounds, go to next step. If horn does not sound, inspect and repair horn system. See WIRING DIAGRAMS
.
- Ensure ignition switch is in OFF position. Disconnect Smart Entrance Control Unit (SECU) Gray 24-pin connector and apply ground to terminal No. 42 (Brown/Yellow wire). See Figure
. If horn does not sound, go to next step. If horn sounds, replace SECU.
- Inspect vehicle security horn relay No. 2. See VEHICLE SECURITY HORN RELAYS
under COMPONENT TESTS. Replace as needed. If relay is okay, go to next step.
- Remove vehicle security horn relay No. 2 from underhood relay block. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 1 (Green/Red wire) on relay socket. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, inspect and repair the following items:
- Fuse No. 61 (15-amp) in fuse block J/B, under left side of instrument panel.
- Green/Red wire, between fuse No. 61 and vehicle security horn relay No. 2, for open or short to ground.
- Measure voltage between terminals No. 3 (Black wire) and No. 5 (Green wire) on relay socket. See Fig 1
. If battery voltage is present, inspect Brown/Yellow wire between relay and SECU for open or short to ground. Repair as needed. If battery voltage is not present, inspect and repair the following items:
- Green/Red wire between fuse No. 61 and vehicle security horn relay No. 2 for open or short to ground.
- Black wire between ground and vehicle security horn relay No. 2.
