DTC Confirmation Test
Malfunction is detected when engine coolant temperature has not increased to normal operating temperature within a certain amount of engine run time. Possible causes are:
- Thermostat stuck closed.
- Thermostat seal leaking.
- Defective Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor.
To set DTC, replace thermostat with an OEM thermostat. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select DATA MONITOR, and read COOLAN TEMP/S value. If value is more than 140°F (60°C), allow engine to cool until value is less than 140°F (60°C). Drive vehicle at 50-75 MPH for 10 consecutive minutes.
