Description & Operation: Notes
Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) prevents wheel lock-up during abrupt braking. The system detects wheel rotation rate and electronically controls fluid pressure applied to brakes.
A slight vibration and noise may be noticed during hard braking. These conditions are normal and indicate anti-lock brake system is functioning properly. If a malfunction occurs in system, anti-lock feature will not function but conventional brakes will continue to operate normally. Components include ABS actuator/control unit assembly, 2 front wheel sensors and 2 rear wheel sensors. ABS motor and solenoid valve relays are integrated with ABS actuator/control unit assembly. See Fig 1 .
