Test 4: Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) Check
- Check VSS Circuit
Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Raise and support vehicle. Disconnect ASCD control unit harness connector. Using an analog voltmeter, measure voltage at terminal No. 22 (Yellow/Green wire) at ASCD control unit harness connector. See Figure
. With gear selector in "N" position, slowly turn drive wheel by hand. If voltmeter pointer deflects as wheel is turned, VSS is okay. If voltmeter pointer does not deflect as wheel is turned, go to next step.
- Speedometer Operation Check
Ensure ASCD control unit harness is connected. Test drive vehicle. If speedometer operates properly, repair open or short in Yellow/Green wire between terminal No. 7 at ASCD control unit harness connector and terminal No. 32 at instrument cluster harness connector. If speedometer does not operate properly, repair speedometer. See INSTRUMENT PANELS - G20 article.
