Hydraulic System Bleeding

CAUTION: DO NOT hold steering wheel at or near lock position for more than 15 seconds.
NOTE: Incomplete air bleeding will cause air bubbles in reservoir tank, clicking noise or excessive buzzing in power steering pump. Fluid noise is common in valve or power steering pump. This may occur when vehicle is stationary or while turning steering wheel slowly. This does not affect performance or durability of system.
  1. Turn engine off. Raise and support vehicle. Ensure reservoir is filled to specified level with specified power steering fluid. Quickly turn steering wheel fully left and right, lightly touching steering stoppers. Repeat procedure until reservoir fluid level no longer decreases and no bubbles exist.
  2. Start engine and allow to idle. Turn steering wheel fully left and right, lightly touching steering stoppers. Add fluid if necessary. Repeat procedure until fluid level no longer decreases and no bubbles exist. Ensure fluid level is correct.
