Description & Operation

Power steering system consists of a rack and pinion steering gear, steering pump, fluid reservoir and flexible connecting lines. The belt-driven pump mounts on the front of the engine. The reservoir isremotely mounted. Hydraulic pressure for power-assist is produced by a rotary valve, vane type pump assembly. The pump draws fluid from the reservoir and supplies it to the valve assembly. The rotary valve in the pump valve assembly supplies pressurized fluid to the rack piston.
