DTC P1320: Ignition Signal
- Check Power Supply - Start engine. If engine starts, go to step 3). If engine does not start, go to next step.
- Check Ground Circuit - Turn ignition off. Disconnect power transistor harness connector. See Fig 1. Verify harness continuity between power transistor connector terminal No. 21 and engine ground. See Fig 2. If continuity is present, go to next step. If continuity is not present, repair harness or connectors as necessary.
- Check Output Signal Circuit
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect ECM harness connector. Verify harness continuity between following power transistor connector terminal and ECM connector terminal:.
- Power Transistor terminal No. 1 (Yellow wire) and ECM terminal No. 1.
- Power Transistor terminal No. 2 (Light Green/Black) and ECM terminal No. 2.
- Power Transistor terminal No. 3 (White wire) and ECM terminal No. 3.
- Power Transistor terminal No. 4 (Pink/Black wire) and ECM terminal No. 7.
- Power Transistor terminal No. 5 (Red/Blue) and ECM terminal No. 8.
- Power Transistor terminal No. 6 (Gray) and ECM terminal No. 9.
If continuity is not present, repair harness or connectors between ECM and power transistor as necessary. If continuity is present, go to next step.
- Check Ignition Coil - Disconnect ignition coil harness connector. Using ohmmeter, check resistance between ignition coil terminals No. 1 and 2. See Fig 3. Resistance should be about .9 ohm. If resistance is not as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace ignition coil.
- Check Power Transistor - Disconnect power transistor harness connector. Using ohmmeter, check power transistor continuity. See Fig 4. Replace power transistor if results are not as specified. If resistance is as specified, go to next step.
- Check ECCS Relay - Remove ECCS relay, located behind right kick panel. Connect a 12-volt power source and ground to terminals No. 1 and 2 of relay. See Fig 5. Using ohmmeter, check continuity between terminals No. 3 and 5 and terminals No. 6 and 7. Continuity should exist while relay is energized.
- Disconnect power source and repeat continuity check. No continuity should exist. If continuity is not as specified, replace ECCS relay. If relay is okay, disconnect ECM wiring harness connector. Check connector pins for damage or corrosion. Check all circuit connectors for clean, tight fit. If fault is still present, repeat step 1).
