Description & Operation
The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) prevents wheel lock-up during abrupt braking. The system detects wheel rotation rate and electronically controls hydraulic fluid pressure applied to brakes.
A slight vibration and noise may be noticed during hard braking. These conditions are normal and indicate anti-lock brake system is functioning properly. If a malfunction occurs in system, anti-lock feature will not function but conventional brakes will continue to operate normally. Components include ABS control unit, actuator assembly, 2 front wheel sensors and one rear wheel sensor. See Fig 1 and Fig 2 .
