Idle Mixture

NOTE: Idle mixture is computer-controlled. Adjustment is not normally necessary. See SYSTEM/COMPONENT TESTS article for testing of fuel feedback system.
  1. On G20 (A/T Before Serial No. 450021 and M/T), disconnect battery and disconnect Pulsed Secondary Air Injection (PAIRC) solenoid valve harness connector. Disconnect PAIR valve hose and plug it at front tube side. On all models, disconnect engine temperature sensor harness connector. Connect a 2500-ohm resistor between engine temperature sensor harness connector terminals. On G20 (A/T Before Serial No. 450021 and M/T), connect battery.
  2. Start engine, and warm to normal operating temperature. Snap throttle to 2000-3000 RPM, 2-3 times under no-load, then allow engine to idle. Check idle mixture (CO% level). See IDLE SPEED & CO LEVEL  table.
  3. After checking idle mixture, disconnect resistor from engine temperature sensor harness connector terminals and connect engine temperature sensor. On G20 (A/T Before Serial No. 450021 and M/T), disconnect battery, connect PAIRC solenoid valve, PAIR valve hose and engine temperature sensor harness connector. On G20, connect battery.
