Symptom Diagnosis

Symptom checks cannot be used properly unless the problem occurs while the vehicle is being tested. To reduce diagnostic time, ensure steps in BASIC TESTING and TESTS W/CODES articles were performed before diagnosing a symptom. Symptoms available for diagnosis include:

• High Idle - Warm
• Hunting Idle
• Unstable Idle After Warm-Up
• Hard Or Impossible To Start - Cold, Under normal conditions or Hot
• Hesitation - Cold, Under normal conditions or Hot
• Engine Stall - Cold, Hot, On momentary acceleration, Acceleration or cruising, Heavy electrical load or While turning.
• Lack Of Power & Stumble
• Detonation
• Surge
• Backfire - Intake or Exhaust
