Function And Features
The MAPS (Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor) is installed on the surge tank and is an indirect measurement method that indirectly calculates the intake air amount by measuring the pressure in the intake pipe. It is also called the Speed-Density Type. The map sensor transmits an analog output signal proportional to the absolute pressure according to the pressure change to the PCM, and the PCM uses this signal as basic information for calculating the intake air amount along with the engine speed.
The map sensor consists of a piezo-electric element and a hybrid IC that amplifies the output signal of the piezo-electric element. The piezoelectric element is a silicon diaphragm type that uses the piezoresistive effect of semiconductors, and one side of the silicon diaphragm is a 100% vacuum chamber and the other side has a structure in which the pressure of the intake pipe is applied. That is, the output is obtained according to the silicon change according to the pressure change of the intake pipe.
