Transmission Control Module/Powertrain Control Module

The TCM/PCM randomly monitors memory checksum by performing a self-test. These tests are implemented to verify that all of the vehicle software operational calculations are operating properly. If the test fails due to incorrect checksum, the TCM/PCM determines there is a checksum value error.
