Repair Procedures: Removal

WARNING:
  • Be sure to read and follow the "General Safety Information And Caution " before doing any work related with the high voltage system. Failure to follow the safety instructions may result in serious electrical injuries.
  • Be sure to read and follow the "High Voltage Shut-Off Procedures " before doing any work related with the high voltage system. Failure to follow the safety instructions may result in serious electrical injuries.
CAUTION:
  • Be careful not to damage the parts located under the vehicle (floor under cover, fuel filter, fuel tank and canister) when raising the vehicle using the lift.

    (Refer to General Information - "LIFT AND SUPPORT POINTS ")

  1. Shut off the high voltage circuit.

    (Refer to Automatic Transaxle System - " HIGH VOLTAGE SHUT-OFF PROCEDURES  ") 

  2. Remove the engine room under cover.

    (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - " ENGINE ROOM UNDER COVER  ") 

  3. Drain the engine coolant.

    (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - " ENGINE COOLANT  ") 

  4. Drain the coolant of hybrid motor cooling system.

    (Refer to Hybrid Motor System - " COOLANT  ") 

  5. Remove the Hybrid Power Control Unit (HPCU) assembly.

    (Refer to Hybrid Control System - " HPCU (HYBRID POWER CONTROL UNIT)  ") 

  6. Loosen the wiring bracket mounting nut (A) and ground bolt (B).

    Tightening torque:  9.8 - 11.8 N.m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 - 8.7 lb-ft)

  7. Disconnect the connectors as shown in the illustration below.
    1. Electronic shift actuator connector
    2. Position sensor connector
    3. Main connector

  8. Disconnect the wiring clip (A).

  9. Loosen the mounting bolt (A) and then remove the wiring bracket.

    Tightening torque:  9.8 - 11.8 N.m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 - 8.7 lb-ft)

  10. Disconnect the air bleed hose clip (A).

  11. Loosen the mounting bolt (A) and then remove the wiring bracket.

    Tightening torque:  9.8 - 11.8 N.m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 - 8.7 lb-ft)

  12. Disconnect the hybrid motor high voltage cable (A).

    Information 

    • Disconnect method of the connector.
      1. Pull the lever (A) in the direction of the arrow.

      2. Press the hook (B), and then pull the connector.

  13. Disconnect the Electric Oil Pump (A) and clutch pressure sensor connector (B).

  14. Disconnect the wiring clip (A).

  15. Loosen the mounting bolt (A) and then remove the wiring bracket.

    Tightening torque:  9.8 - 11.8 N.m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 - 8.7 lb-ft)

  16. Disconnect the clutch pressure sensor connector (A).

  17. Loosen the hybrid drive motor upper mounting bolts (A).

    Tightening torque:  42.2 - 54.0 N.m (4.3 - 5.5 kgf.m, 31.1 - 39.8 lb-ft)

  18. Disconnect the ATF warmer hose (A).

  19. Assemble the engine support fixture use a (Beam SST No.: 09200 - 3N000), (Engine support fixture (Front) SST No.: 09200-L1200), (Engine support fixture (Supporter) SST No.: 09200-2S200).
  20. Using the engine support fixture (A), hold the engine and transaxle assembly safely.

  21. Remove the front wheel guard. [LH]

    (Refer to Body (Interior and Exterior) - " FRONT WHEEL GUARD  ") 

  22. Loosen the transaxle support mounting bolts (A).

    Tightening torque:  107.9 - 127.5 N.m (11.0 - 13.0 kgf.m, 79.6 - 94.0 lb-ft)

  23. Loosen the bolts and then removing the transaxle bracket (A).

    Tightening torque:  58.9 - 78.5 N.m (6.0 - 8.0 kgfm, 43.4 - 57.9 lb-ft)

  24. Remove the front sub frame.

    (Refer to Suspension System - " FRONT SUB FRAME  ") 

  25. Remove the drive shaft assembly.

    (Refer to Driveshaft and Axle - " FRONT DRIVESHAFT REPAIR PROCEDURES  ") 

  26. In case of 4WD vehicle, remove the transfer assembly.

    (Refer to 4 Wheel Drive (4WD) System - " FRONT WHEEL TRANSFER ASSEMBLY  ") 

  27. Disconnect the Electric Oil Pump (EOP) high voltage cable (A).

    Information 

    • Disconnect method of the connector
      1. Pull the lever (A).
      2. Press the hook (B), and then pulling the cable connector.

      3. Using the screwdriver, raise the hook (C), and then pull the cable connector.

  28. Disconnect the ATF warmer hose (A).

  29. Loosen the mounting bolt (A) and then remove the wiring bracket.

    Tightening torque:  9.8 - 11.8 N.m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 - 8.7 lb-ft)

  30. Loosen the bolts and then separate the Auxiliary Electronic Water Pump (AEWP) (A).

    Tightening torque:  19.6 - 26.5 N.m (2.0 - 2.7 kgf.m, 14.5 - 19.5 lb-ft)

  31. Loosen the bolts and then removing the roll rod support bracket (A).

    Tightening torque:  49.0 - 68.6 N.m (5.0 - 7.0 kgf.m, 36.2 - 50.6 lb-ft)

  32. Loosen the bolt and then removing the dust cover (A).

    Tightening torque:  42.2 - 48.1 N.m (4.3 - 4.9 kgf.m, 31.1 - 35.4 lb-ft)

  33. Remove the automatic transaxle and motor assembly with a jack after loosening the mounting bolts (A, B).

    Tightening torque: 

    1. 42.2 - 53.9 N.m (4.3 - 5.5 kgf.m, 31.1 - 39.8 lb-ft)
    2. 42.2 - 48.1 N.m (4.3 - 4.9 kgf.m, 31.1 - 35.4 lb-ft)
