Repair Procedures: Removal

WARNING:
  • Be sure to read and follow the "GENERAL SAFETY INFORMATION & CAUTION " before doing any work related with the high voltage system. Failure to follow the safety instructions may result in serious electrical injuries.
  • Be sure to read and follow the "HIGH VOLTAGE SHUT-OFF PROCEDURES " before doing any work related with the high voltage system. Failure to follow the safety instructions may result in serious electrical injuries.
CAUTION:
  • Be careful not to damage the parts located under the vehicle (floor under cover, fuel filter, fuel tank and canister) when raising the vehicle using the lift.

    (Refer to General Information - "LIFT AND SUPPORT POINTS ")

  1. Shut off the high voltage circuit.

    (Refer to Automatic Transaxle System - "REPAIR PROCEDURE ")

  2. Drain the engine coolant.

    (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "COOLANT ")

  3. Drain the coolant of hybrid motor cooling system.

    (Hybrid Motor System - "COOLANT ")

  4. Remove the engine cover.

    (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "ENGINE COVER ")

  5. Remove the Hybrid Power Control Unit (HPCU) assembly.

    (Refer to Hybrid Control System - "HPCU ")

  6. Loosen the ground line bolt and then removing the engine wiring (A).

  7. Loosen the bolt and then separate the wiring bracket (A).

  8. Separate the ATF cooling hose (A).

  9. Loosen the bolts (A) and then separate the wiring brackets.

  10. Disconnect the main connector (A) and electronic shift actuator connector (B) and position sensor connector (C).

  11. Loosen the bolt and then separate the ground line (A).

  12. Loosen the transaxle upper mounting bolts (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    42.2 - 54.0 N.m (4.3 - 5.5 kgf.m, 31.1 - 39.8 lb-ft)

  13. Disconnect the hybrid motor high voltage cable (A).
    NOTE:
    • Disconnect method of the connector
      1. Pull the lever (A) in the direction of the arrow.

      2. Press the hook (B), and then pull the connector by rotating the lever (C).

  14. Assemble the engine support fixture use a (Beam SST No.: 09200 - 3N000), (Adapter SST No.: 09200-2W000), (Engine fixture adapter (rear) SST No.: 09200-L1100), (Engine support fixture (Supporter) SST No.: 09200-2S100).
  15. Using the engine support fixture (A), hold the engine and transaxle assembly safely.

  16. Remove the front wheel guard. [LH]

    (Refer to Body (Interior and Exterior) - "FRONT WHEEL GUARD ")

  17. Loosen the transaxle support mounting bolts (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    107.9 - 127.5 N.m (11.0 - 13.0 kgf.m, 79.6 - 94.0 lb-ft)

  18. Loosen the bolts and then removing the transaxle bracket (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    58.9 - 78.5 N.m (6.0 - 8.0 kgf.m, 43.4 - 57.9 lb-ft)

  19. Remove the sub frame.

    (Refer to Suspension System - "SUB FRAME ")

  20. Remove the drive shaft assembly.

    (Refer to Driveshaft and Axle - "FRONT DRIVESHAFT ")

  21. Loosen the bolts and then separate the auxiliary electronic water pump (AEWP) (A).

  22. Loosen the bolts and then removing the roll rod support bracket (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    49.0 - 68.6 N.m (5.0 - 7.0 kgf.m, 36.2 - 50.6 lb-ft)

  23. Disconnect the pressure sensor connector (A).

  24. Disconnect the electric oil pump (EOP) connector (A) and then separate the wiring clip (B).

  25. Disconnect the electric oil pump (EOP) connector (A).
    NOTE:
    • Disconnect method of the connector
      1. Pull the lever (A).
      2. Press the hook (B), and then pulling the cable connector.

      3. Using the screw driver, raise the hook (C), and then pull the cable connector.

  26. Disconnect the resolver sensor connector (A).

  27. Separate the ATF warmer hose (A).

    CAUTION:
    • Carefully install the clamp not to damage the hose.
    • Install the clamp in a correct direction not to be interfered with other parts.
  28. Loosen the bolt and then removing the dust cover (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    42.2 - 48.1 N.m (4.3 - 4.9 kgf.m, 31.1 - 35.4 lb-ft)

  29. Remove the automatic transaxle and motor assembly with a jack after loosening the mounting bolts (A, B).

    Tightening torque: 

    1. 42.2 - 53.9 N.m (4.3 - 5.5 kgf.m, 31.1 - 39.8 lb-ft)
    2. 42.2 - 48.1 N.m (4.3 - 4.9 kgf.m, 31.1 - 35.4 lb-ft)
