Repair Procedures: Replacement
- Remove the front wheel and tire (A) from front hub.
Tightening torque:
88.2 ~ 107.8 N.m (9.0 ~ 11.0 kgf.m, 65.0 ~ 79.5 lb-ft)
NOTE: Be careful not to damage to the hub bolts when removing the front wheel and tire (A). - Loosen the caulking nut (A).
Tightening torque:
294.2 ~ 313.8 N.m (30.0 ~ 32.0 kgf.m, 217.0 ~ 231.5 lb-ft)
NOTE: The front hub caulking nut should be replaced with new ones.
After installation caulking nut (A), must be caulked certainly using a chisel and hammer. - Remove the tie rod end ball joint from the knuckle.
- Remove the split pin (A).
- Loosen the nut and then remove the ball joint (B).
Tightening torque:
34.3 ~ 44.1 N.m (3.5 ~ 4.5 kgf.m, 25.3 ~ 32.5 lb-ft)
- Loosen the bolt & nut after removing the pin (A).
Tightening torque:
98.1 ~ 117.7 N.m (10.0 ~ 12.0 kgf.m, 72.3 ~ 86.6 lb-ft)
NOTE: Do not use a bar to release the lower arm from the knuckle. - Remove the lower arm from the knuckle by using the SST (09568-4R100).
- Install the support bolt (A) from bolt hole.
- Install the support body (B) from front axle.
- Tighten the bolt (C).
- Disconnect the driveshaft (A) from the front hub assembly.
- Loosen the inner shaft mounting bolts and then remove the driveshaft.
[Applied for unequal type RH side only]
Tightening torque:
49.0 ~ 68.6 N.m (5.0 ~ 7.0 kgf.m, 36.2 ~ 50.6 lb-ft)
- Remove the driveshaft RH (A) from the DCT transaxle. [Applied for unequal type RH side]
- Remove the driveshaft RH (A) from the transfer assembly. [Applied for unequal type RH side]
- Insert a pry bar between the transaxle case and joint case, and separate the drive shaft from the transaxle case.
[Applied for equal type RH side driveshaft/LH side driveshaft]
- Use a pry bar being careful not to damage the transaxle and joint.
- Do not insert the pry bar too deep, as this may cause damage to the oil seal.
- Do not pull the driveshaft by excessive force it may cause components inside the joint kit to dislodge resulting in a torn boot or a damaged bearing.
- Plug the hole of the transaxle case with the oil seal cap to prevent contamination.
- Support the driveshaft properly.
- Replace the retainer ring whenever the driveshaft is removed from the transaxle case.
- Install in the reverse order of removal.
- Check the front alignment.
