Repair Procedures: Removal
- Turn ignition switch OFF and disconnect the battery negative (-) terminal.
- Remove the engine room under cover.
(Refer to Engine and Transaxle Assembly - "ENGINE ROOM UNDER COVER ")
- Remove the drive belt.
(Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "DRIVE BELT ")
- Disconnect the alternator connector (A).
- Disconnect the alternator B-terminal cable (A) after loosening the mounting nut.
Alternator "B" terminal tightening nut:
9.8 - 11.8 N.m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 - 8.7 lb-ft)
- Remove the alternator mounting upper bolt (A).
Alternator mounting upper bolt:
49.0 - 63.7 N.m (5.0 - 6.5 kgf.m, 36.2 - 47.0 lb-ft)
- Lift the vehicle.
- Remove the alternator mounting lower bolt (A).
Alternator mounting lower bolt:
49.0 - 63.7 N.m (5.0 - 6.5 kgf.m, 36.2 - 47.0 lb-ft)
- Disconnect the compressor ECV connector, and then by loosening the mounting bolts, widen the gap between the compressor (A) from the engine to remove the alternator.
- Remove the alternator (A).
