Repair Procedures: Removal

  1. Turn OFF ignition switch and disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
  2. Remove the air cleaner assembly and air duct. (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "AIR CLEANER ")
  3. Remove the battery and battery tray. (Refer to Engine Electrical System - "BATTERY ")
  4. Remove the engine control module (ECM). (Refer to Engine Control System - "ECM ")
  5. Disconnect the E-LSD wiring connector (A).[In case of E-LSD vehicle]

  6. Disconnect the neutral switch connector (A) and back up lamp switch connector (B), speed sensor (C).

  7. Disconnect the shift cable (B) and select cable (C) after removing the snap pin (A) and washer.

  8. Remove the shift cable bracket (A).

  9. Remove the ground bolt (A).

  10. Disconnect the concentric slave cylinder tube (A) after removing the pins (B).

    CAUTION:
    • Do not pull the double clip (A) upward. (Clip can be damaged and the clutch pedal may not operate due to oil leakage.)
      • If the double clip is wrongly operated replace the Concentric Slave Cylinder (CSC).

  11. Remove the transaxle upper mounting bolt (B-2ea) and the start motor mounting bolt (A-2ea).

    Tightening torque: 

    1. 49.0 - 63.7 N.m (5.0 - 6.5 kgf.m, 36.2 - 47.0 lb-ft)
    2. 42.2 - 53.9 N.m (4.3 - 5.5 kgf.m, 31.1 - 39.8 lb-ft)

  12. Assemble the engine support fixture (beam No.: 09200-38001 or 09200-3N000, supporter No.: 09200-2S000, adapter No.: 09200-2W000). (Refer to SPECIAL SERVICE TOOLS - "Engine Support Fixture Assembly Drawing")
  13. Using the engine support fixture (A), hold the engine and transaxle assembly safely.

  14. Remove the under cover. (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "ENGINE ROOM UNDER COVER ")
  15. Remove the sub frame. (Refer to Suspension System-"SUB FRAME ")
  16. Remove the intercooler pipe (A).[In case of E-LSD vehicle]

  17. Remove the drive shaft assembly. (Refer to Driveshaft and Axle - "FRONT DRIVESHAFT ")
  18. Remove the E-LSD assembly.[In case of E-LSD vehicle]  (Refer to Electronic Limited Slip Differentiae System - "ELECTRONIC LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIAL (E-LSD) ")
  19. Remove the front - LH wheel & tire and wheel house cover.
  20. Remove the transaxle mounting bracket cover (A).

  21. Remove the transaxle support bracket mounting bolts (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    88.3 - 107.9 N.m (9.0 - 11.0 kgf.m, 65.1 - 79.8 lb-ft)

  22. Remove the transaxle mounting bracket (A).

  23. Remove the transaxle support bracket (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    58.9 - 78.5 N.m (6.0 - 8.0 kgf.m, 43.4 - 57.8 lb-ft)

  24. Remove the brake vacuum pump.
  25. Remove the roll rod support bracket (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    49.0 - 68.6 N.m (5.0 - 7.0 kgf.m, 36.2 - 50.6 lb-ft)

  26. Remove the bracket bolt (A).

  27. Remove the manual transaxle with a jack after removing the mounting bolts (A, B).

    Tightening torque: 

    1. 42.2 - 48.1 N.m (4.0 - 3.9 kgf.m, 31.1 - 35.4 lb-ft)
    2. 42.2 - 53.9 N.m (4.0 - 3.5 kgf.m, 31.1 - 39.8 lb-ft)

    CAUTION:
    • Be careful not to damage other system or parts near by when removing the transaxle assembly.
